Status of Report on OROP : RAJYA SABHA

Status of report on OROP

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state :-

(a) what is the status of one-man Judicial Committee report on One Rank One Pension (OROP) for removal of anomalies in OROP submitted to Government in October, 2016;

(b) what are the anomalies highlighted by the report and the recommendations therefor;

(c) by when Government will implement recommendations made in the report;

(d) the total amount paid towards OROP till date; and

(e) the total number of ex-servicemen and widows who have received OROP benefits?

ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
DR. SUBHASH BHAMRE

(a) to (c): The Government appointed One Member Judicial Committee (OMJC) on OROP to look into anomalies, if any arising out of implementation of OROP on 14.12.2015. The Committee submitted its report on 26.10.2016. An internal Committee has been constituted by the Government on 19.07.2017 to examine the recommendations of OMJC with respect to feasibility and financial aspects.

(d) & (e): A sum of Rs.10,722.49 crores has been released to 20,42,892 Defence Forces Pensioners / Family Pensioners on account of OROP in four instalments upto 30.09.2017.
