Onam Holiday 2023 Date Kerala
First Onam falls on 28th August 2023 (Monday), Thiruvonam falls on 29th August 2023 (Tuesday) are declared as public holidays in Kerala state.
Onam is an Hindu harvest festival celebrated in Kerala. This festival is celebrated on the appearance of the Vamana avatar of Vishnu and the subsequent homecoming of the King Mahabali. Legend says that the people of Kerala celebrate the arrival of the king over the course of 10 days. The 10 days of the festival are named after the astrological stars of the Malayalam calendar. The ten days are sequentially known as Atham, Chithira, Chodhi, Vishakam, Anizham, Thriketa, Moolam, Pooradam, Uthradam and Thiruvonam
